The Physics Research Council is inviting applications from students across all divisions (Classes 9-12, Gap Year candidates, and all college undergraduates) to join our organizational committee.
Important Note: No prior experience or advanced physics knowledge is required. We provide training for all selected candidates.
Volunteering Divisions & Roles:
- Outreach & Communications: Coordinates mail invitations to schools, schedules board meetings, and contacts in-kind sponsors.
- Graphic Design & Media: Manages promotional material creation and formats official certificates.
- Web Development & Database Administration: Assists in managing repository portals, HTML website components, and registration spreadsheets.
- Physics Grading Committee (College Physics Majors Only): Assists in evaluating exam scripts and reviewing problem banks.
Benefits of Volunteering:
- Signed Certificate of Appreciation from the Scientific Advisory Council.
- Public listing on our contributor board to enhance student portfolios.
- Flexible, remote commitment (approx. 1–3 hours per week).
The Physics Championship is a multi-division competitive examination designed to test physical reasoning, mathematical derivations, and research abilities.
Round 1: Conceptual Filter
A timed online conceptual examination testing logic, dimensional analysis, and foundational physical laws.
- Total Questions: 20 Multiple-Choice and Numerical Questions.
- Duration: 60 Minutes.
- Syllabus: Kinematics, Newtonian Mechanics, Heat, Waves, and Basic Electromagnetism.
- Grading: Automated grading via Sheets. Serves as a qualifying filter for Round 3.
Round 2: Innovation & CV Portfolio (Optional)
An optional showcase allowing students to submit past research projects, coding models, or academic accomplishments for bonus marks.
- Acceptable Entries: Science fair projects, physics simulations (e.g. Python scripts), literature reviews, or academic CVs.
- Bonus Score Cap: Up to +25 bonus points added directly to the final score.
- Evaluation: Peer-reviewed by our Advisory Board using standard evaluation rubrics.
Round 3: Olympiad Theory Challenge
The final, paper-based theoretical examination. Students download the exam, write solutions by hand, and upload scanned copies.
- Total Questions: 5 to 8 multi-stage derivation problems.
- Duration: 180 Minutes (3 Hours).
- Standard: International Olympiad level (similar to IPhO/USAPhO).
- Grading: Rigorous evaluation of mathematical steps and physical logic by academic advisors.
Competition Divisions:
| Division | Target Candidates | Syllabus Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Division A | Junior High School (Classes 9 & 10) | Algebra-based mechanics, general heat and waves, light rays. |
| Division B | Senior High School (Classes 11 & 12) & Gap Year | Introductory calculus-based mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism. |
| Division C | College Undergraduates (1st & 2nd Year - Any Major) | Advanced dynamics, electrodynamics, modern physics, special relativity. |
The Physics Research Council publishes introductory essays, historical profiles, and conceptual overviews written by our contributors to foster scientific inquiry.
Symmetry and Conservation: The Legacy of Noether's Theorem
An exploration of Emmy Noether's profound theorem linking differentiable symmetries of a physical system to its fundamental conservation laws—establishing the mathematical foundation of modern theoretical physics.
Read Full Article on Medium →Our committee consists of professors, university researchers, and educators who oversee syllabus creation, validate Olympiad exam papers, and evaluate research portfolio submissions.
Advisory board members consist of physics educators, researchers, and university professors. The complete committee registry for the 2026 session will be published upon the conclusion of current candidate registrations.
Are you a university researcher, postdoctoral fellow, or physics educator? You can join our advisory board as an honorary fellow. Fellowship is free and requires under 2-4 hours per semester. Email us at physicsresearchcouncil@gmail.com with your CV.
